Judd Trump was the first player to book his place in this year’s World Championship Semi-Finals after disposing of China’s Ding Junhui 13-4 earlier this morning.Trump was never troubled in this one and he now awaits the winner of Ronnie O’Sullivan v Stuart Bingham. After winning the first frame Judd reeled off the next five in quick succession with breaks of 54,82,94,108 & 76 to hold a commanding 6-0 lead over the Chinese No1.The next two frames were crucial for Ding as he looked to get into the contest and he at least made a game of it winning frames seven and eight to leave session one only 6-2 behind.
Players returned in the evening and it was imperative that Ding got off to a flyer but he didn’t click for some reason and with Judd continuing his good form,he opened up a 9-2 lead.It was pretty much more of the same from Judd when Ding got to four frames as he extended his lead to eight with two more centuries at the session end,12-4.
Ding knew it was all over coming into Wednesday morning’s final session being handed the task of trying to stop Judd winning one of the last nine frames. The pain didn’t last long for Junhui however as Trump won the opening frame with a 64 break to book his place at the one table format Semi-Final stage.
He will have one eye on Ronnie’s match against Ballrun with Bingham currently two frames up on the master leading 5-3 after session one.
He is obviously bullish about his chances to reach another final, with himself saying that if he plays like that again then he can’t be beat!
Could this finally be Judd’s year?
